Hi Nina-- I am a thin cyster, non IR and have been on 2000 mg/day of Glucophage for about 4 months now. My doctor preferred the brand but our new insurance doesnt cover it so now, so when I went for my appt today he switched me to Met XR 750 mg/ THREE times a day. Honestly, I am a little nervous about the increase in dose, but my periods suddenly stopped coming last month, so I think that is why he increased it. Maybe your doctor wants to see if the lower dose will work for you first and to make sure you will tolerate it. When I started Met, my doctor increased my daily dose every two weeks until I reached 2000mg/day and I have been tolerating it fine. How are you doing with the Met so far???
