I have a very similar situation. In the past I have only been able to get a period if I was on BCP or provera and it has taken countless doctors to diagnose me as PCOS. It took so long because my only symptom was anovulation - I am not overweight, have excess body hair, and my ultrasounds have never shown any cysts on my ovaries. Since I have been diagnosed my doctor put me on metformin and I finally get periods. I even ovulate! However, I was only ever diagnosed because I kept pushing my doctor for answers and finally went to an endocrinologist who understood my symptoms much better. If you are not satisfied with your doctor get a second opinion, and don't forget you know your body better than anyone. |
