I would recommend you seeing a clinical psychologist specialiced in cognitive behavioural therapy (CBT). This is a form of therapy focused on how (negative) thoughts are linked with feelings, behaviours and bodily sensations, and changing the way we do think, behave, feel etc.

CBT has a good success rate in dealing with anxiety and depression issues. It does require motivation and effort on your part, as does any other form of therapy, but I think you'll be happy to find that it is a straight forward dealing with the problems in the here and now, and not so much dwelling in the past, unless that's necessary.

CBT for anxiety and panic attacks usually consists of sessions with your therapist, as well as "homework assignments". These assignments can be writing down all panic experiences you have during a week, what situations each of them occured in, and the feelings, thoughts and bodily sensations you experienced with each panic attack.

Off course, other forms of therapy can also be effective, but CBT has had the highest success rate in research on effect.
