Default Coming off BCPs

Its been 29 days since the last time I had my pill and I have what I think is the start of AF. Cramps in the last 2 days and today some light blood.
Now I've NEVER had a period since about the age of 16 without taking BCPs. Can I count this as a 'normal' period, or will it take me a few months before my body realises I'm not on BCPs?
I know when you go on them docs will say give it 3 months before your body settles into them, does the '3 month rule' apply coming off them too?
