In my opinion, and from what I have read and discussed with doctors, PCOS symptoms are not normally helped by progestogen only treatments, because they are usually a) too androgenic due to the lack of oestrogen, b) may help cramping but not much else (e.g. the Mirena), or c) cause more cyclical problems such as irregular bleeding, painful clotting and the after the course of treatment may cause more problems such as no cycle.

The Mirena can certainly help with pain and seems to have less undesirable effects on weight and acne as the levenorgestrel progestogen is concentrated to the womb. With the implant the side effects seem to be more severe and less helpful to your PCOS!

I hope this helps. I also returned to Yasmin after using the mini-pill and IUD (simultaneously), both of which were awful for me. Ugh...takes a while...! xx
