To the best of my knowledge, there's no generic version of Yaz. I tried Ortho Tri Cyclen once; it was one of the most terrible experiences of my life. I was very depressed, to the point of thinking about death and dying every minute of every day. I felt better almost immediately after I stopped taking it. I took Mircette for a while and had no problems with it. I think there may be a generic version of that. Personally I have had a much better experience with low-dose, monophasic (same level of hormones every day) pills. I'm currently on Yaz, costs me about $20/month on my insurance. I doubt there's anything cheaper unless you can get something generic. Seems like $20-25 is a common price range.
