Question Not on Metformin, should I be?

I was diagnosed with PCOS at the end of April, by a doctor at my university clinic. She had me on progestrin for 10 days to start my period again, then I started on Diane again. (I had major breakthrough bleeds on Yasmin, so I went back to Diane)

After doing a lot of research on PCOS as well as surfing around on here, I noticed that even a lot of non-obese women with PCOS are on Metformin. This was never discussed with me and I am wondering if I should bring it up to my doctor. I have switched to a low GI diet in order to control my blood sugar, but should I still be looking into Metformin and has anyone had success without it?
