Questions if you had a lap.. please read I have been putting off a lap for years because I am terrified of going under and be totally out. They refuse to do it while I am just sedated or in twilight and wont do it unless they put me out. I have had twilight sedation for a hysteroscopy and D&C where they removed tons of polyps in my uterus and cleaned me out a few years ago. That went well. I was scheduled to have a Lap with my old RE but chickened out and didnt go through with it.
I have had severe pelvic pain for years now and often times its unbearable. If I take medicine to have a period that is unbearable as well and I do have symptoms of endo. All of the Drs I have been to suspect endo and suspect it could also be the reason I didnt get pregnant with #2 even with everything being great on fertility meds.
I have a few questions about it and hope to ease my mind. I made an appt with a new RE last month and he was very nice and said he thought we should go with a lap to see whats going on in there before anything else that way I could have a diagnosis and he could remove it if it is in fact endo. My old RE said the Lap had to be cycle based, but this RE didnt mention that. Was yours cycle based? I havent had AF in a long time and dont know if I should induce or not before the lap.
What can I expect to remember? How much pain were you in after? I went and had most of my pre surgery things done (I requested an EKG bc I am paranoid and they did it and it was fine). I have to do blood work a week or so before the surgery and have my pre op around the same time with the Dr. He said right after I could try if I wanted and that if it is the endo than that would be the best time to try. He also said he would do orarian drilling if I wanted, but some research shows women go into menapause earlier due to that so I am unsure if I want to do it or not.
I am worried about my weight being a factor in surgery and he said he didnt see any issues and he has done a lap on much bigger people. Its outpatient and that makes me more at ease but I am still so nervous about it. I have surgery scheduled in mid/late June so its coming up fast. Any stories and advice would be much appreciated.
