Hi! My name is Sam too. I'm 20 and was diagnosed in August 2007. Getting diagnosed took me three years and 80 pounds, so I completely understand the frustration you have with your doctor. If you don't think that you're getting adequate care, I highly recommend that you switch doctors. Where do you live? There's a thread on the forum where other cysters recommend doctors. I'd suggest you check that out. From my experience with doctors, I'm getting the impression that there is no absolutely standard treatment plan for PCOS due to the variability of symptoms and lack of complete understanding about PCOS's causes. Because of this, it's very easy for treatments to vary in frequency of imaging studies, etc. As long as you have a doctor who is treating you for your hirsutism and testosterone (and any other symptoms you have) and seems to be knowledgeable about PCOS and its treatment, then you should be fine. Good luck!
