Hi Tara Jane,
Generally an OB/GYN or Endocrinologist will assist in treating PCOS along with a registered dietitian. The care plan is primarily proper nutrition and exercise. There may be some medciations involved depending on individual circumstances, but that is all dependant on the MD as well. Monitoring foods that elicit an insulin response is key. Unfortunately our practice is such that the MDs do not have the manpower to treat women who are not currently trying to get pregnant at this time, but we are working on structuring a PCOS protocol. BUT I DO take outside referrals. You can come see me for general health and nutrition at the center. I also hold a FREE monthly PCOS Support Group where women in Southern Nevada can connect with other women with PCOS. They can ask questions about their doctors and nutrition plan, and success in controlling their PCOS symptoms. I highly recommend it. Contact me should you have any other questions!
