Before being diagnosed with Insulin Resistance, I ate healthily and worked out like a fiend. Ran some marathons and half-marathons at 170 pounds. Never lost weight. In fact, I was gaining.

And having repeated miscarriages. So discouraging.

I'm in my final month of my first pregnancy (on Metformin, 2000mg/day) and just found this book. I'm a little slow on the uptake with this stuff sometimes.

I can tell you that the linking is ESSENTIAL and that taking in adequate lean protein is the key. The IR Diet is basically how I've been eating while on the Met and it seems to prevent any gastrointestinal distress that usually accompanies taking Met.

It's not so much a diet (I don't like that they called it that) as it is a readjusting of your eating habits to meet your body's IR needs.

Highly recommend it.
