 Sex Hormone Binding Globulin
Shortly after I was diagnosed with PCOS overseas, my general physician was baffled by a hormone workup indicating that my testosterone/progestin levels were all completely normal. Thank God for my eagle-eyed German OBGYN! He promptly spotted that my body was not producing sex hormone binding globulin in sufficient quantities, which meant that the amound of testosterone in my blood stream was too high.
So my question is, are there any medications that mimic or replace SHBgH? Is this something that can be synthesized, and if no, why not? There was a minor language barrier with my doctor, and I'm wondering if there may be a treatment plan out there that I am unaware of... |
