I think it's on par with how the laser feels as far as on the pain threshold. If it's only a few hairs, you will just feel a little pin prick, but will be over quickly. There are different ways to perform electrolysis, and not sure the mechanics, but one is a rapid fire that basically cauterizes the hair follicle and the other is a slow fire that changes the chemistry of the follicle, making lye or something. I've had electrolysis both ways done and pain threshold was about the same. Didn't like the slow fire method, cause she couldn't get to as many hairs per minute like in the quick fire method, but the results from the slow fire method tend to be better from what I understand. good luck with it!
