I've always bought at the top end of the range which goes up to about $200 at the moment, but that's a great deal of money if it doesn't work for you.
One of my sons has a model something like yours and it's certainly not the same quality -- his is made in China, whereas neither of mine is.
However, I think that before reaching the conclusion that you need a different model of razor I would give your skin and beard growth a chance to get used to it and really concentrate on getting the technique right. Getting the skin completely dry, without any trace of moisture whatsoever, stretching the skin ahead of the razor and moving it real slow over the skin are all important. Your skin also needs to be totally clean -- no trace of makeup of any sort. Best to wash your skin thoroughly at night and then shave in the morning.
When you say it doesn't remove anything, how long is the growth that's there when you start?
Is it soft or is it stubbly?
