I have been diagnosed by two different REs (one in 2002 and one in 2007) but went through this with an ob/gyn (in 2007) who didn't think I had PCOS.
There is a more recent classification of women with PCOS. As the pp said, there are many factors that should be used to make the diagnosis. All of my bloodwork is within the normal range (including glucose). I am a normal weight. The two REs went more from my history than anything. Lack of cycles and cystic ovaries.
Another opinion wouldn't hurt~
