It sure sounds like a panic attack. I have had them off and on for about a year and a half or so. For me, I feel dizzy, clammy, and like I'm about to throw up, and I get this terrifying feeling of panic and fear, and my heart starts racing. What I do is close my eyes and I have a mantra I say out loud to calm myself, I tell myself "you're ok, you're safe, everything is fine." I do this while taking deep breaths. This happened to me in the grocery store, I nearly fell on a shelf, and I happens at home, and often at work. But taking deep breaths, closing my eyes, and saying that mantra at least 10-15 times helps. I would also get more afraid b/c I didn't want to faint or throw up, and I talked to my therapist about it, and she said that I can calm down about that part, because people don't faint or throw up, so just that knowledge helps me deal with the attacks better when they come. |
