Hmmmm. Almost every young woman I know is on birth control and has been since college, and while I don't exactly go parading it around in front of my dad or uncles, I'm not ashamed of it generally and I certainly don't hide it. Yes, I take mine for PCOS. But I also take it for birth control, and even if I didn't have PCOS, I would be on it.
How old are you? If you are younger, maybe that's why you feel like this - if you're still in high school or something, I could see how maybe it would be a bigger deal. If you're out of high school and people still act weird about it, I would wonder if it's a regional thing because really, I just pretty much assume now that anyone I know in college or above is on birth control. That does NOT mean I think everyone is loose or slutty, it just means that most women are having sex or plan to have sex and don't want to get pregnant. To me, it would be more of a shocker if someone was not on BCP. Even if someone doesn't have a steady boyfriend, I think most people continue with BCPs between relationships just to keep everything steady.
