I was told to take Met XR in two doses because, though it's extended release medication, it's not a 24 hour release, it's only about a 12 hour release. Taking it all at once leaves your body for twelve hours without metformin after having had a day's worth in the first 12 hours.
I take 1500 mg each day and I found that one in the morning with breakfast and two in the evening with supper (generally a larger meal) seems to work best for me. |
