Default New to PCOS

I am in the diagnostic period of this syndrome and was wondering if anyone had any questions I should ask my doctor or any good advice.

Here is my situation:
For about three years now I have known something was not normal. I have gained a ridiculous amount of weight, mood swings, bouts of weird acne, and very irregular periods. I have always had irregular periods but thought it was because I was really skinny in my teenage years. Then when I started BC it began regulating my periods and I never thought twice about it.

I got married over a year ago and got off the BC about 2 1/2 years ago and the symptoms are getting worse. So I have been struggling trying to get some answers. I work in the medical field as a nurse so I had some insight into some things it might be. My first thought was thyroid, it runs in my family. Got that checked and it was within normal ranges. So my next step was figuring out why my periods were so irregular.

I went to my GYN and she ran a hormone panel. Came back with high testosterone levels. She told me with all my symptoms and this test result it was most likely PCOS. So my next step is an ultrasound which they could not schedule for another month. This frustrates me because I really would like to start some kind of treatment. I live in a pretty small town so im struggling with the idea that they may not have alot of knowledge about this syndrome.

I have done a good bit of research about this syndrome. It feels great to know that I may finally have an answer to all of my issues. We would like to get pregnant in the next 6 months.

Any advice or insight would be appreciate.

Thanks
