Question What is Metformin, and how do you ask your doctor for it?

I am new here and I keep reading about Metformin.
My doctor prescribed me Chlomid 50mg, which I am taking now for the first time, but not Metformin.

Does it increase your chances of Chlomid working?
How do I ask for it?

I am 5 ft 4 and weight around 149 lbs. I've gained 20 lbs in the last 2 years probably from my sedentary work life.. and maybe pcos. I've been trying to lose weight to get back to what my body was before.

Around the time I gained all the weight, I had a period that lasted 80 + days. My doctor gave me a uterine biopsy and vaginal ultrasound and found that I had hyperplasia, 1 fibroid and cysts on my ovaries. I got prescribed BCP which got rid of the hyperplasia.

I just got some blood work done a couple days ago and am waiting on the results to actually confirm my PCOS. But since the doctor already gave me Chlomid, I guess they are pretty sure I have it.

Did your doctor just prescribe you with Metformin? Or did you have to specifically ask for it?
