I'm average too! The only thing besides my 60+ day cycles that said PCOS was my FSH/LH ratio. I was diagnosed in May after lots of general malaise, sugar cravings, nausea, etc. Metformin is doing great things for me because I'm apparently insulin resistant. My appetite has leveled out, I don't have all those awful symptoms I did before, and I've lost five pounds in the last six weeks since I went on it - which I don't mind.

Still waiting for my cycles to shorten though, but it's early yet.
