Unhappy Newbie teen- Lack of periods

Hey everyone, I'm new around here.. and to forums in general! Never know if I'm posting in the right place!!

Just thought I'd say hello and tell you about my introduction to the world of PCOS!

I was diagnosed a year and a half ago, never been put on any medication.. My main symptoms are non existent periods and being overweight!

I went to see my GP about my very irregular periods, she tested my hormone levels and suggested I may have PCOS- she seemed to know quite a lot about it and was very helpful! She wanted to put me on metformin (sp?) but suggested I go for an ultrasound and see a specialist to confirm the diagnosis. She sent me to see a man, and I have since found out he's supposedly one of the best specialists in the UK (I disagree!!) He was terrible to me, very patronising and said it's unlikely I had PCOS, I was just overweight (ignoring everything my GP tested) I had waited over three months for this appointment and was devastated that all he did was give me the same 10 minute lecture about being overweight- assuming it was solely because of a poor diet and no exercise.. didn't ask me anything, and then moved onto his next patient!

I was on the mini-pill (progesterone only) for about a year, but had to come off it because it was giving me bad stomach pains, I've been off the pill now for 10 months- I haven't had periods since!
Does anyone feel down about not having periods? People always say they wish they didn't have to have them, but it's making me feel non-feminine and I really wish I could have them again, just so I know my body is ok again..

I'm trying really hard to loose weight, I know it's important and also may bring on my periods again. I just wondered if anyone can tell me about an medications, are there any for bringing periods back? Or should I wait until I loose weight before asking my doc?? I have a feeling it may take a loong time! I'm in the UK by the way..

Thanks all!
