It's not funny. Your period isn't supposed to make you risk losing your job or fail out of school, which, could be very possible for myself and some others I know who suffer from this type of thing. Even if it happens only once in a while, I think it's serious if you feel it's serious, and any doctor (in my opinion anyway) who says it's normal and doesn't rule out more serious problems or try to stop the heavy bleeding is doing you a disservice. I also want to point out that with this amount of blood coming out, we are at risk for other blood related issues besides just reproductive/sexual ones.
