Default Can i ask the dr to up my dose?

I'm taking Metformin Prolonged Release Tablets, (full name on the box says ''Bolamyn SR 500mg Prolonged Release Tablets. Metformin Hydrochloride'') and i get them in boxes of 56 tablets.

i was told to take one on a morning and one on a night, which equals 1000mg, and i have been taking these for about 2 months, and most things i have read on here, i should have lost SOMETHING by now. but i havnt lost anything, not even one pound.

im pretty much recovered from an eating disorder where i ate under 500 cals a day, and my diet now is still pretty healthy so its not the food i eat. and i walk the dog 4/5 times a day.

i've also read that quite a lot of you got started on 1500mg a day, so do you think i could ask my Dr to up my dose to this and see if it makes a difference?

i was started on one tablet a day for two weeks, then upped to two a day. i take my tablets in the middle of my meal too, as i heard that was a good way to do it.

any tips would be much appreciated :-)
