Hi everyone! The name's Kaylee, I'm 21 and have been suffering from PCOS since puberty. I finally got a diagnosis from an endocrinologist on Friday...And while it's a relief to *finally* know I'm not nuts, it's also very stressful and is really weighing down on me.
I'm being treated with Metformin 500/2X a day, a once weekly dose of Vitamin D, and Yaz. I was running late to my appt, so unfortunately I didn't get to REALLY talk with my doc..Basically she said "yep, it's PCOS. Take Met, Vitamin D, and Yaz. Met will suck at first but stick it out! It'll get better. Seeya". Soo..I don't really know why I'm on some of these meds. She said VitD will help w/hair loss and give me energy, but I'm not so sure about the Met. I've read about it on here, but i dunno why *i'm* on it. All of my bloodwork came back normal (in fact, my doc told me i'd live forever! lol), except for a high testosterone level.
I just started the Met last night, and have felt exhausted, weak, and hungry all day. But maybe I'll post *this* question on the Met board.
Just wanted to introduce myself and see if maybe you guys had any opinions on the whole met thing (why i'm on it?), or any advice. I'd definitely appreciate it! You guys seem like such a helpful bunch, I'm glad i found this place.
