I went off met about two months ago and went to see a nutritionist. Both the nutritionist and an RN told me a similar fact. That metformin is equal to what one hour of exercise does for your insulin.
So I take that as - If I am on metformin it will aid in losing weight. The metformin is doing what it is supposed to and exercise is then allowing me to lose weight. Without exercise it will basically maintain my weight.
Looking back on my four years on metformin this was true. When I would exercise I lost, when I did nothing I stayed the same. And when I went off met I gained 10 pounds. I will be going back on :-) |
