Thumbs up Had a long conversation with ChiroBalance people yesterday

I had alot of questions and got them all answered expecially about interactions with other things I am taking. I ended up talking with the founder who is a biochemist. I was very happily impressed with the depth of information in the answers I got.

#1 DCI is working for about 75%+ of those who take it. The best indicators if it will work for you are: you have IR, you are overweight and a diet that does not restrict carbs such as weight watchers, jenny craig, etc. DOESNT work well for you, If low carb diets seem to have some effect. Some of the 25% of those that it doesnt always work for are those who may have "lean PCOS" (it can work but doesnt always, or the results arent as dramatic). The rest he speculates are not taking it correctly or consistantly (skipped doses, wrong time of day, etc)

#2 you can stay on metformin while taking DCI, they will not counteract or cause issues if taken together. (I take 1500mg/day, extended release)

#3 Cinnamon and Chromium Pic. still ok to take and infact its a good idea. (I take 2 cinnamax capsules a day which has both)

#4 Saw Palmetto is ok as far as he knows (1 take one gel cap a day 160mg)

#5 Vitex/Femaprin is ok to take while on this (1 take 1 capsule/day)

#6 Take in the am with water, wait 30 minutes before eating at least

#7 Continue to restrict Carbs. I am restricting to between 30-50/day but not attempting to induce ketosis

#8 Excercise is a good thing

#9 If you are taking Spironolactone (Aldactone, Spiritone), check with your Doctor first or you can drop your androgen levels to low. Because D-Chiro lowers androgens as does Spiro you may not want to take them both.

#10 it is VERY important not to miss a day and to take it at the same time daily (basically as soon as you wake up)

#11 D-Chiro-Inositol is NOT the same as Myo-inositol (this is the standard inositol that you can get at health food stores and GNC), Myo inositol is made into DCI and part of the issue with people with IR/PCOS/Type 2 Diabetes is that we are not converting enough of it or not converting it properly. Tests show that the amount of D-chiro present for those in the catagories listed above is EIGHT times LOWER than those who are in the normal range. So you can dump more myo-inositol in your system but its already very prevelant in a diet that includes fruits and vegatables.

#12 D-Pinitol is not as effective and is easy to obtain from citrus and legumes in the diet and is converted into DCI. The conversion process seems to be where the issue is so its better to just take the DCI. Again you can take both if you want.

Also some notes: take a good multi and a calcium with D in it as well (I usually wait until ive eaten to take everything, but I will now take the D-chiro on empty stomach, wait 30 minutes, eat breakfast, then take everything else to avoid an upset stomach.

Ive probably just reiterated a bunch of stuff other people have already said in this thread but wanted to post it as I heard it!
