I did not find that to be true for me, at least. Even keeping the snacks small and healthy--low fat yogurt, fruit, low fat cheese, some veggies, etc--I had trouble with constant hunger and low blood sugar and keeping my calories down. It never really mattered WHAT I ate, I still got low blood sugar very frequently because my body was pumping out insane amounts of insulin. I was also an athlete at the time, training 16-18hrs a week in the pool plus calisthenics...eating 2000-2500 cal/day divided up into frequent snacks and was STILL having low blood sugar and STILL gaining weight. Even the nutritionist was puzzled.

Metformin was a real godsend for me. I can be a little less stringent with what I eat, and I can eat less frequently when I choose. My H1C is greatly reduced, and my instances of low blood sugar are much more rare. It might not work for everyone, but I think it is worth a shot.

So to answer the original poster's question
"I am starting back on Metformin tomorrow. Do you thin that will help?"
I would say yes.
