Tansi!
I'm Cree-Metis from Alberta, currently living in Toronto.
I don't think that PCOS is a genetic thing, but I think there is some truth to our bodies difficulties with managing blood sugar, which does make PCOS a more ready possibility for us. Through some major lifestyle changes I've managed to lose about 70 pounds over the last 3 years. It's taken just as long for my body to adjust to the gradual weight loss. I didn't see any improvements in the first 2 years, but bit by bit over the last year, my periods have started to return to a monthly cycle, and 2 months ago I managed to conceive without the aid of any medication. Although I lost the baby 2 weeks ago, I am a firm believe that eating in a healthy way (I follow a low glycemic eating plan) and being active CAN make a huge difference.....and I'm not a perfect eater, sometimes I still down a pint of Ben and Jerry's, but it doesn't throw me out of whack like it used to, and I feel a lot more in tune to my body......
just some thoughts...
xoxo
