If your insurance company will not reimburse you for the product south of the border, remember to keep your receipt for tax purpose.s Insurance companies might not reimburse because it's not on the list of covered drugs. If you need to purchase it outside of Canada, advise your insurance company, some if given the heads up will cover the cost if it's a covered med. Otherwise save the receipt for taxes purposes, the official prescription receipt and not the cash register tape.

Way back when there was a drug shortage (including Synthroid) the province and state implemented this allowance to help patients get much needed meds.
The down side is many insurance companies will not pay for meds obtained this way in addition to many doctors are not aware of all the new released medications available south of the border and therefore not willing to write you a prescription. |
