My family was scared of my outbursts of, what can only be described as rage. I am now 28 and have had two children which I am grateful for. I was told the period pain would desist once I had children, My youngest is 2 and I am not allowed back on dianette and have had the worst 6 weeks for a while. My Temper Tantrums are horrendously scarry, and I really dont want to follow in my mothers footsteps of scarring my children. My mother is Bipolar and makes attempts on her life regularly, I did not realise pcos and bipolar was linked. I think she may have undiagnosed pcos also, I am awaiting an ultrasound myself. But these symptoms make so much sense to me especially the fatigue. Thanks for making me feel like I am not on my own. S81

Dear Sparkle,

Unfortunatley, your mother may not be bipolar and may be experiencing PCOS or hormonal imbalances that are causing her problems. For 8 years I was diagnosed bipolar, not until I finally found someone to test my hormones after 4 years of trying to get tested did I find out that yes my hormones were all over the place...hair loss, fibroids, weight gain, hair on face, testosterone too high (causes rage, anger, facial hair, hair loss, etc), progesterone too high (caused psychosis)..

Finally got a compounding pharmacist to look at my labs and give me a prescription which I had to get a doctor to sign off on...of course too 5 doctors before they would sign!!! I can tell you that for the first time in 8 years I can go in my back yard without fear, I am not a raging maniac, I am not psychotic for the 10-14 days of my period, I am not bedridden during that time either, as a matter of fact my moods are much more stable!!!

I also use flax seed...buy them whole and crush myself because they are fresher and healthier! I use them twice a day! They will help eliminate bad levels of estrogen, balance other hormones, good omega 3's, and good fiber to help with insulin resistance!

I wish you the best...sometimes we have to be our own advocates and not BELIEVE EVERYTHING THEY TELL US!
