I usually hang around 126# comfortably, but have recently (within the past 6 months or so) gotten up to low 130's and cant' see to get it back off. I'm still not overweight, but I'd like to be back where I was. Actually, about 18 months ago I was around 117# and I felt amazing at that weight. If only it were easy to get there. |
I was put on the Metformin to regulate my cycle and try to control the cysts, it has been working to control the cysts, by AF still irregular. Hopefully after a successful pg and staying with the meds AF will regulate. Metformin can also greatly reduce the m/c rate in PCOS woman, so that is another advantage to taking it.
When my doctor prescribed it to me it was in no way aimed at weight loss, I was 64" and 116 so average to below average weight. It makes you really nauseas at first so my weight did fluctuate, but it's leveled off. They've had me on a bunch of other things now with the TTC and that has really had my weight fluctuating from 110 - 120 up and down for the past months. A lot of it is probably extreme bloating/water weight from the fertility drugs. I start my first round of injections tomorrow.
Anyway, I would give the metformin a try. It took me about a month to wean onto them and another few weeks to really be used to them, now I don't even notice that I'm on anything. I bet it would help you drop those unwanted pounds. The initial part is hard because you need to eat large meals to prevent the nauseas, or anything you can to keep the meds down, but once it regulates you should see your weight regulate (if you have anything to lose).
Are you ttc? If so good luck, and good luck with Metformin if you try it. Feel free to ask any questions if you have any!
