Hi! Don't scurb your skin off...it's an internal thing. I've read that the dark patches are from too much insulin being produced in your body and it "pours" out onto your skin. Basically, your body cannot process the amount of sugar in your system and can't balance out the insulin...something of that sort.

I'm insulin resistant and if I eat white starchy carbs, sugary foods, and do not eat like a health nut, I'll get the AN (dark patches) on my neck, under arms, and inner thighs. Once I started going back on my strict diet of low carbs (whole wheat, brown rice), lean protein (fish, chicken), and fruits and vegetables. Absolutely NO sugary foods, no candy, no gum, etc. I noticed that the dark patches disappeared in 2 months. Oh, for me, drinking lots of green tea (brewed from tea bags) and lots and lots of water has helped with my skin overall.

It takes a lot of effort to follow a strict diet like that (for me at least). But I've slipped a few times and started eating the bad foods like burgers, pizza, sweets, then the patches came backfor sure!!

So for me, the patches disappear with a healthy diet and I'm not even on any medication. I hope this helped a little.
