I have severe Psoriasis behind my ears, as well as my scalp. I have a small patch on my face that comes and goes, as well as lesser patches over the rest of my body (mostly arms/legs). I have had it since my very early teens.
I'd like to bring something to your attention - actually, to anyone who suffers from psoriasis that is reading this thread. Besides the psoriasis, I suffer from joint pain, which started in my mid-late teens (although I have memories of knee pain from my childhood, I can't pinpoint if it was around an injury or not). At any rate, the pain & fatigue was at an all time high last year, and I finially went to see a Rheumatologist. He has diagnosed me with a condition called
Psoriatic Arthritis. I was really surprised, because I would have never thought to link my psoriasis with my joint pain. But after reading about the condition, it all made so much sense.
I've been on medication since April, but unfortunately, my PsA is still in active mode, and I am working with my Rheumy to find something that works. I wanted to post about it here, because up to 30% of people with Psoriasis can be affected with the arthritis factor, too. It worth looking into and keeping an eye on symptoms.
