Default Arab/Hispanic..

I am new to this website, I'll do an introduction soon.. I am Egyptian/Mexican, I have had PCOS since I was 18 (probably even before that, but I was diagnosed at 18). I cannot tell you how difficult it is to get CORRECT treatmentif you live outside the U.S. First off, I couldnt get a "real" examination until I got married... because my mom was afraid the physical examination would jeopardize my "proof" of being a virgin (and anyone who is married to an Arab knows....but let's not get started with that drama!) Two weeks after getting married I had an extremely painful and long period. I was bleeding profusely and I was afraid I would faint from losing so much blood. At the time I was living in Egypt, so I went to the only female OB/GYN I knew. She shook her head, did an internal ultrasound, and started shaking her head even harder. She scared the crap out of me, then as I was getting dressed she told me I would never have kids. Well, I went to a male OB?GYN and he ran many tests for me and told me not to worry, that my PCOS was "mild". He didnt give me any kind of treatment except for Duphaston. He told me to take it and that I would come back to him pregnant... Well the duphaston worked, but not for PCOS!!! The doctor only gave me Metformin while I was pregnant, for fear I might get diabetes while pregnant. Ok, enough rambling! So, you do have a fellow Arab/Middle Eastern cysta around if you need to talk! Take care.
