I really liked Dr. Legro. I highly would recommend him. He had very good bedside manners. I also saw him a couple of years before I was ready to become pregnant. I was sick of not knowing why my body was not "working normal." Dr. Legro ran all the PCOS tests and officially diagnosed me. Have you had these tests done? It is important to get these done and especially important to have these done with a well educated PCOS doctor. If the blood work is sent to a lab that does not routinally check for things like testerone in women, the lab results can be off, this happened to me with my gyno.
On the otherhand, Dr. Legro pushed for birthcontrol. I felt the same as you did. I wanted to solve the problem, not cover it up by taking BC and pretend that it doesn't exisit. It's been about two years since seeing Dr. Legro and I better understand the importance of taking BC for women with PCOS. It is the only med that really keeps are hormone levels in check.
If you haven't been officially diagnosed, I would at least see Dr. Legro for the diagnosis. Then, if you chose so, move on to a different type of doctor that will help you handle your pcos in a natural way.
I hope this all helps! Good Luck! |
