I used to have this, too...even fairly recently (ie within the past couple of years). I don't know anything about Damiana, but VERY regular exercise seems to have completely wiped out the mid cycle depression. I used to track the depression on the same calendar as my workouts, so I was able to see very quickly the impact the 'type, volume, and intensity' of my workouts had on the depression.
I hope you find something that works for you...it's such a heavy feeling
