I've been on Metformin for 3-4 weeks now. Last Thursday I was due to get my period. I've just been having a brownish type discharge, but it's only after I wipe after I urinated. It's not a regular flow even. I don't know how to explain it other than just a brownish-gooky type of stuff... I know TMI, but I want to know if anyone else experienced this during their first AF after starting Met? I know this happens also in early prego (happened to my sis) but I think my chances are more likely it's something to do w/ the Met. Anyone else have this happen?

I know you moved this thread and I was replying to that one but by the time I finished typing I was logged out!! Then I couldn't find the other thread but I knew you moved it from the met board!! Anyway.............

I’m in a similar situation to you.

I started back on met about a month ago. I was having AF at the time. My cycle seems to have regulated to 31-33 days. On CD 19 I started brownish spotting, just as you described but mine lasted for about 3 days. I’ve never spotted mid month before.

I assumed it was the met just messing with the hormones and causing AF and because I only had AF a short while before, all that was left was the dirty old blood (sorry!!). I also thought maybe I’d ovulated but think the spotting lasted too long for that.

Have you taken a pg test?? A few women have gotten pg their first month on met, wouldn’t that be fantastic!! I hate getting a BFN, it makes me cry every time, even though I expect it!! An AF always starts later that day or the next. It’s as though it’s waiting for you to do the test!!

Let me know how you get on. (Do a test!)
