Unhappy 1st pregnancy, 1st loss

Hello all, I like I am sure all of you wish I was not here. After 2 long weeks of waiting for a second ultrasound, we have been told our baby will be going to heaven.

Everything seemed to be going good my number were doubling as they should, I went for my first Ultrasound on 1-28-09 and there was a Sac, Yolk Sac and no fetal pole. The doctor said maybe we were too early, and it would make since with my cycles being so off. so I was scheduled for another ultrasound two weeks later (today) 2-9-09, they seen a fetus, but no heartbeat. I should be at least 8 weeks. Therefore they said the pregnancy was not viable and I had "options" as to how I want to m/c

1) Natural.... just wait it out
2) Take Misoprostol, a medication to induce m/c
3) D&C

I opted for option 2, the medication. The only think is I am nervous, because I am having a hard time understanding why last ultrasound there was no baby, no fetal pole.... and This one there was a baby but no heartbeat????? My doctor said he is 100% sure this is over. I am at peace with that but I am still curious why all of a sudden is there a baby....

Sorry for being so long winded...... If anyone has taken Misoprostol, could you tell me how you reacted to it?????

Thanks!

I'm really sorry this happened to you. I took misoprostol last week as I was diagnosed with a blighted ovum 2.3.09. I started bleeding 2 hours after inserting 4 pills vaginally myself. And I scheduled a follow up appointment for 2 weeks later. I was having a lot of serious cramping worse than AF cramps up until yesterday, but the doc also gave me a script for percocet which really helped with the pain, but it makes me way to drowsy to the point where I'm a lil freaked out about falling asleep so I stopped taking it. I was scared at first because I didn't know what to expect but after the first day which I think I saw what was supposed to pass, pass it's like having AF.

I am SO sorry I remember your thread, and I so hoped it wouldn't end like this. I'm sorry I don't have any experience with early loss, hopefully you'll get more advice from the other ladies. However, I personally feel if you can avoid a d/c it is better for you in the long run, because you don't run the risk of damaging your cervix in the procedure.

Hope it is over soon (the physical part, at least).

Oh Merc, I'm so sorry!!! I was really hoping you wouldn't lose the baby. Could you maybe talk your dr into another u/s in a week or so, just to be sure? My first thought is, if you're nervous, it's not going to change anything if you wait a week or so. If you've got a good dr, he will agree to it. You might start to m/c on your own also, if it is in fact going to end. Now, my thoughts on how to m/c. I would try to do natural, if you can. I've m/c naturally 3 times. It's not fun, but it's only slightly worse than AF. HOWEVER, w/this one because it was ectopic, I was medicated w/Methotrexate & I was, and am still, in so much pain that unless I have to, I will not do a medicated one again. I would try to stay clear of d&c also, if you can. My thought is the least invasive it can be, the better. Like I said, that's my own thoughts & you can take them for what they're worth. lol Again, I'm really sorry!

Thank you all for your advise, DH and I spoke all night and we are going to start the medication in the next hour. He had to go to work, so my sisters are coming over to be with me. I am scared but I am ready for this to be over too. I want to get healthy and start again asap..... May god bless our Angel baby!

Thank you all so much. *********** Graphic, if you don't want to read I understand!!!*******************

Yesterday I started my Misoprostol at 9 am by 12pm I started bleed heavy. With about a six hour period I think I about lost everything. from small clots the size if a quarter to large clots the size of kiwi. We believe we seen what we think was a fetus. I was not in pain... Just cramping. After the second dose, I became very weak... I forgot to eat with the meds, I almost passed out, broke out in sweats. DH was a brick, he helped me through it, put my legs up and had a cool cloth on my forehead. The experience is not for everyone, for a minute I was rethinking the decision I made, not that it would have helped after taking the meds, it was happening. But now I am so glad I braved through it all.

Default I am in the same boat

I just found out today that our little baby's heart stopped last week. Apparently there is about a 7% chance you will miscarry after seeing a heart beat so we were shocked. I'm supposed to be at 9 weeks but the sac/pole measured at 6.

I am opting for the D & C. I can't bear to see it come out.

I wish you the best!!

Stacey I'm sorry you are going through this too.... It is a hard road but I can only be strong and positive.... We want a child so bad, and we hope that after we heal we can look forward to starting again.

GatorGal- I am so sorry to hear about the heartbeat. my prayers are with you, and wish for the best, we will get our little ones...... Good luck with the D&C.

Meggy, I'm so sorry, I know how hard it is.... I am getting tired of hearing we are young and can try again.... This baby was real, it was a child and we lost it. We will move forward, but it hurts so deeply!

Hi Merc. I'm sorry about your loss. I recently lost my first, although I was barely pregnant, 3w6d. I only got to be happy for 2 days before I started bleeding. I'm glad that I was able to miscarry naturally and not have to worry with the meds because it sounds like it was quite an ordeal. I'll be praying for you, and I hope you see your BFP soon.
