1st RE visit today Well, I survived my appt, lol. No, it wasn't that bad. The staff & the dr were wonderful. She spent about 45 mins reviewing my history and what I've done so far. I went in alone, which was fine with me. Then she did a physical exam, vaginal ultrasound & regular pelvic ultrasound. She did the regular pelvic ultrasound because with the vaginal, she could not see my right ovary.
Results of ultrasounds show enlarged ovaries, which were also noted in my files from my old dr. In 1999, I had an ultrasound which showed enlarged ovaries. At that time, nothing was mentioned to me about it. RE explained to me that these are the type of ovaries that produce 5 & 6 babies born that you hear about sometimes on the news. The problem seems to be that they hold all the eggs that are not being released. If I have success with a medication to have them release the eggs, they will not just release 1 egg. They will release a bunch of eggs. But, she said that the risk can be minimized with Metformin.
I had to go through a round of blood work today (make sure I'm not currently pregnant, since I haven't gotten AF in a while), but when that comes back negative then I will go on Provera to bring on AF. Then on cd 3, another round of blood work. Depending on those results, I'll find out what the next step is.
So, I'm feeling much relief now that the appt is over. I am very happy with the dr and hopefully this will lead me to a BFP soon.
