Question 1st round of Clomid - Night out tonight - can I have a drink or two???

HI all,
This is my first round of Clomid started today (2 x 50mg tablets taken Days 2-6 of my cycle).
I was wondering as I have my Cousin's Hen Night tonight, if I am able to drink with it, and how much would be ok.

I dont normally drink much - probably a couple of drinks each week, but just didnt want to go overboard. The instructions do not mention not drinking, but they dont say you can either!

Also, what about Paracetamol? Does this affect in any way. I have evil AFs and the pain is severe sometimes.
Being very cautious as Im new to CLomid, and not sure whether these things are ok to take with it.

PLEEEEASE, some advice would be great right now.
Oodles of babydust to you all, Kachina xx

As all the TTC cysters said.... go right ahead!!

I've done it before and nothing had happened, as long as it's moderated, I haven't heard of a problem with it!!

RELAX ANYWAYS!!!

You're going to think me a stick in the mud, but I think if you're serious about TTC (and I know you are, otherwise you wouldn't be putting yourself through all this stuff with Clomid) you should seriously consider everything that you put in your mouth.

If you do a search on www.google.com for "fertility alcohol" you will find heaps of information. The following seems pretty evident:

*Drinking alcohol decreases fertility.

*Smoking cigarettes decreases fertility.

*Caffeine may reduce a woman's ability to conceive and may increase the risk of miscarriage. One or more cups of caffeine a day in combination with alcohol increases the negative effect on fertility.

I think it's important to give a baby the best start possible, and for me that meant no alcohol and no caffeine while TTC (I didn't smoke anyway) for 3 years while TTC number 1 and then for the pregnancy. And again while TTC number 2 (and number 3 as it turns out, twins!) which took two cycles It think abstaining from alcohol and caffeine (and smoking) gives your body a better chance to produce healthy eggs.

I know this may not be a popular reply, but I think you must have doubts about doing it or you wouldn't have asked.

Lots of baby dust to you all.

My doctor said that a drink or two during the time that I took Clomid was fine, just don't go overboard. I typically drank 1-2 drinks per month during my TTC, never any in the 2nd half of my cycle (just in case) and have totally stopped now that I am expecting. I had also cut back my caffeine to one mug of coffee per week.

I know that caffeine and alcohol affect fertility, but they actually affect the male partner far more than the female during the time of TTC (male actions for 3 months before conception affect the baby!!!), and there's no reason to feel guilty about having 1 or 2 drinks in the early part of your cycle.

This advice may be coming after the fact and I don't know anything about Paracetamol, sorry.

I just had this conversation with my doctor, seeing that I leave for a lovely tropical vacation right on cd3!!! He said to go and enjoy myself....it does not affect the effectiveness of the clomid....even if you have a couple of drinks after you O (which some people do), and you conceive...the "baby" isn't connected to you via the placenta or anything like that yet....so until that happens, you *technically* aren't passing those things directly onto the fetus. This comes out of the mouth of the chief of Ob's at a major teaching hospital in Boston....and he's a smarty!!!! (lol)......don't worry about it..TTC stresses us out too much...you enjoy a nice night out!

re: Paracetamol: It's always wise to avoid any drug if you're TTC, but if you have to take one, Paracetamol is probably the safest. Definitely avoid the combined ones (e.g. with Codeine) This also goes if you're actually pregnant: avoid all you can but if you MUST take something (fever, pain) then a few plain Paracetamol won't hurt even in the first 12 weeks.

Thanks to everyone for replying!!
The Hen Night was really crappy, but it was that much of a disaster we couldnt stop laughing about it the next day!! lol
Never mind - I did get a couple of drinks in, but not excessively, so Im sure I was ok.
Thanks for the comments and the reassurance.
Babydust to you all!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Kachina xx
