Hi, I hope I am now posting this in the wrong place because it is my first time. I am young and overweight and diagnosed with PCOS. I am frustrated!!!! I had a terrible nonstop flow for so long..I thought I would pass out sometimes or worse. Finally I went to the doctor and he put me on Yasmin which helped SOOOOOOOO much. Also put me on Metformin. Finally in October everything stopped but then started suddenly in Jan while I was still on meds. I just wondered if amyone had my same problem and maybe your docs did something different. My doc said if it all started back, then I would have to have a D&C, which I really don't understand how that will help.....Anyone offer any advice...

Sounds like the Yasmin and the Met were doing a good job for you. Were you under any excess stress or started any other medications during the time from October up to now? In my opinion, a D&C wouldn't do much, because if you were flowing nonstop for so long, you're pretty much cleaned out cyster! So basically you were only having amenorrhea for a little over two months? I would ask your attending physician what purpose the D&C would serve....
Just my thoughts.

Hi there!

After being dx with IR, I've suspected for months that I may have PCOS - I had my first appt with my new OB/GYN on Monday (01/17/05), she has stated that even though my AF has at times has lasted for 45 days, that a D&C may still be necessary.
Now I'm still learning all the steps in getting diagnosed and I go in for an ultra sound this Friday, so I'm not sure if she is waiting to get the results back from that before she makes that decision - I was trying to remember exactly what all she said about it before I responded, but I do remember that she said that she was not ruling out the possibility of doing a D&C.

For some reason should I question this being done?
