Question 2 Hr Post Meal Sugar Level

I had GD w/ 2nd PG in Oct '02.

I've been monitoring myself again. What is a post meal # range supposed to be? Had my OB put me back on 1500 mg Glucophage XR after I was done BF in Jan '03. Glucophage allows me to have reg AF's. This was how I became PG last year.

My fasting in the AM is 90 - this # has been consistant.

Tonight had a high carb meal and it was 170.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks! Gracie

Default Hi!

hmmm i had gest. diabetes w/both my pg's each time it went away afterwards however my last one (born Jan 2001) I was ok for a year then I started feeling weird and just this last month was diagnosed w/type 2 diabetes. I am taking 2000mg metformin and even w/that my fastings are 140-150's so you are lucky w/that! My post meals are better... usually always under 150 (avrg 125-140) my dr. wants 2 hrs after to be below 150.. for some it can go as high as 180... considering you know you ate a very high carb meal the 170 is not a surprise.. if I do eat A LOT of something High carb then it will be in the 170's - 180's it may not necessarily mean you have diabetes because this can happen because of the pcos alone since you have an insulin impaired thing going on anyway which is sensitive to carbs. B4 I was "diabetic" and was just w/the pcos a high carb meal would do that but my other #'s were always better. As i said your fasting is great but it also could be the meds doing that so it would be a good idea to maybe get tested to make you feel better if it is just the pcos/insulin resist. or if you did develop diabetes.. I think it can go either way!
