Ok first, I'm taking Lexapro, and I've noticed that I'm a bit nauseus. Does that side effect go away soon?
Also, where do you "wear" most of your weight? I have a really big stomach, and it's really disproportionate to the rest of my body. Is that normal for people with PCOS? I weigh 234 pounds, but I only wear a size 16 and it's a bit loose, so I wear my weight well, but I just have a really big stomach. But the weird thing is that I can suck in my whole stomach without a problem, and I look fine, but when I'm not sucking in my stomach, it's very disproportionate. I asked my new personal trainer about it, but she doesn't know what to do, she just tells me to work on eating less fast foods and drink more water. I've lost weight everywhere else but there.
Just passing through here, but yes, nausea is one of the side effects of every SSRI I've taken or heard of, and the only one I ever have trouble with. It should pass when the medicine becomes effective (usually three weeks after you start taking it). Until then, close your eyes and take deep breaths. Ginger can help- tea is probably the best, but gingerale (I like diet, the sugary stuff makes my mouth sour) will do in a pinch. Sip, don't guzzle.
I am not taking any meds but most of my weight is in my stomach as well. I am 235 and I have to wear a size 22/24. I am pretty well protortioned but I have a tummy that really sticks out and I have a bit of a wider body frame than most women. I beleive for most woman with pcos and endometriosis, its normal to have extra body weight in the stomach. Or rather, its more common.

I was taking Lexapro a year ago when I was first diagnosed with depression. I had horrible side effects and ultimately decided that it wasn't worth it. I don't know if this is the first medication you've been on, but there are plenty of other options out there. I'm currently on Zoloft and I haven't had any issues with it.
I am at 245 (pinned there for 3 years, w/in 2 ounces) at 5 foot 11 3/4 inches tall, and the majority of my weight is around my stomach. It is one of the symptoms of PCOS (midsection weight gain)
Cant help with the side effects of meds as we have different meds over here(that i know of lol)

For your first question, I've never had any problems with my antidepressant medication. I am not sure if Paxil is a SSRI or not. I think that with almost any new medications you will have some side effects. If you are feeling a bit nauseated, try sipping some water or ginger ale. That helped me when I started on Metformin.
As for your other question, I carry a lot of my weight in my stomach, too. To add to the factor for me is my Mexican heritage. So I have a butt and thighs, too. I look pretty slim from the front, but I look really strange from a side view. Makes finding pants that fit quite a task, too. =D

I can only answer the question about the weight, but I am the exact same way. I've always been heavy in my lower tummy area & thought it was my fault. I would always do 'crash diets' & crazy workouts to no avail. My doctor told me that with PCOS it is normal to have weight in your tummy-area. It sucks…don’t get me wrong, but knowing it comes with the territory prevents me from beating myself up over it. I’m 5’5 & about 235 lbs-no one guess my weight & looking at me head on I look normal, side view is a different story!(haha) I guess all I can say is, take it for what it is & embrace your imperfections-they are what makes you who YOU are!
Hope that helps, Ness
