Question 2 Questions....

I was wondering about saw palmetto if standardized is better and how much is a good amount to take. Also has anyone heard about a combo of garlic and papaya pills to lose weight? Any info would be great thanks!

It depends on who you ask. I take unstandardized. Some herbalists I have read suggest standardized and some unstandardized. I think it also depends on what it is being taken for. For men with prostrate problems it may be better to take standardized but personally I think for our situations unstandardized is fine (and cheaper)
I have not read specifically about the combo of garlic and papaya but I think I read garlic was helpful (in many ways over and above weight loss) I think papaya is a digestive enzyme so it helps your food digest faster and therefor move through your body faster.
I have typed up a post on herbs for weight loss somewhere...I will see if I can find it and bump it up for you.

I've had success with the standardized extract for my skin and hair. See my sig. for more info.

I read the studies of men with prostate problems and the reason why the standardized extract is so effective for them is that it contains a set dosage of the active compounds of the berries in order to make a significant difference in the active testosterone (DHT) that is converted.

I reasoned that the more DHT my body is not pumping out on my skin and hair, the better off I would be.

Also, I read that not all "non-standardized" herbs are created equal either, there have been some tested that contain NO active compounds of the herb whatsoever. I just felt like I was using this herb as a medicine and I wanted to make sure I was getting a medical grade product.
