hi ladies!
i'm 23, dx when i was 16, all these years spent on and off bcp.. i tried everything (diane, minulette, NuvaRing..) on feb i went to a new gyno-endo, she told me to stop bcp and lose 20 lbs (my normal weight is 145ish but last winter i gained 20 lbs or so) and she told me i was IR.
since then i lost all the weight i was supposed to lose, changed lifestyle (diet, exercise, everythiing) but mainly nothing happend with my period, it seems i cant have spontaneous af. i have to take progesterone avery two monthes if af doesnt come.. and it never does. but my sintomps are getting worse and worse.. pelvis' pain, excess hair, moodswings..
now my question is..
since they already told me they wont for now put me on met since i am managing so well the IR with just the diet
what if i ask to be put on bcp again? or what else? i dont really know what to do but i dont really trust this gynoend because she seems a lot of the "let's wait and see what happen" team..
sorry i just cant go on like this but she seems to do not understand.. listening to her all my simptoms (and maybe all the problems in the whole world lol) would have gone away just getting thiner...
any suggestion welcome!!!

I'm always up for Met... its been my wonder drug. I know some doctors have differing opinions about it, but I think its relatively univasive, inexpensive and can be combined with other fertilty drugs if needed. It may not work, but I figure its worth a try for at least 6 months. Do some research about it and talk to your doctor about what you find. (By the way... I'm thin 5'4.5" 112 lbs and never been tested for IR) Good luck!

Hi Italian Friend,
Some symptoms wont go away no matter how much weight you lose. And as you seem to be at a normal weight, I would look for another doctor who is more proactive. I am 5'5", 135 lbs, and get AF maybe once a year spontaneously, if I'm lucky. Acne is also a problem for me. Before TTC, I was on bcp and spironalactone, which helped a lot with the acne and with bringing AF. Now I am trying metformin to see if that will bring regular cycles. I say if your doctor isnt listening to you, then move on. You know your body best, and we cysters have to stand up for ourselves and do what is best for our bodies. Good luck!

One more thing, Im not IR either, but my RE put me on Met, so I dont think its just for IR. It should help bring all of our hormones into a normal range.
