Did you gals know there is a June challenge over on the diet and exercise forum? Click on the link at the bottom of my signature to get there. There is going to be a motivational fundraiser for the soulcysters site to coincide with it. This has stirred up lots of excitement for many!! Come on over!!

Default am tempted....

Hi,

I would really like to join you girls. I am not yet officially diagnosed (working on it) and that may be an obstacle.

Last year I lost 10 kg by eating low-carb but got to my current weight and stagnated. Nothing will shift my tummy. This year I would like to lose a further 10 kg. I am currently 83kg and will be happy around 70-75 (a size 12). I am not sure how to lose any more weight though. I am hoping to get a diagnosis and be put on metformin, as I understand that although the medication itself does not assist with weight loss, that it "levels the playing field".

Anyhow, to cut a long story short, I'd love to join you, but will wait until (hopefully) I get diagnosed and then my efforts will get me somewhere.

In the meantime, I'm eating right and exercising. The half mara is a challenge I'd like to work towards. When is Foster? I am currently running 5km fun runs and would like to work towards a half. I'll be doing the Sydney Marathon clinic 5k runs starting in Feb (will be o/s for the Jan run). More details on the calendar at coolrunning.com.au for anyone interested. Please feel free to join me.

Has anyone tried lo-carb? (locarb.com.au) I'm thinking of using it and would appreciate your insights.

Good luck to all of you with your goals. I hope to be joining you soon.

Gabrielle

Hi Gabrielle

I know what you mean getting stuck. Ive lost about 30kg in the last 3 and a half years and i lose 5kg then get stuck then lose another 5. Ive lost 5kg in the last 2 weeks and am putting this down to the met as i havent changed anything else i was doing (i have been lo carbing and an excercise freak for a while)

I did the corporate triathlon last year and i am in training for the one on 4th April. It is a 400m swim in Sydney harbour, a 10km bike and then a 4km run! Ive thought about doing the half Foster but im not up to it yet - its a 1.9km swim, 80km bike then 42km run. OMG!!!! i dont think ill ever be up to it actually.

How about the city to surf?

Em

Default 30 kg???? That's awesome

Hey Emma, 30kg!!! I'm very impressed.... well done!

You're on for the city to surf!!!

I walked it last year and plan to jog it this year. My goal is to do sub 90 mins.

The Sussan women's classic is good fun too. It's a 5k.

I also swim and cycle, but it's been about 10 years since I did a tri, and it was only ever short course.

Are you talking about the corporate games triathlon? I thought it was held at the Regatta Centre (Penrith). Maybe I'm thinking of a different one to you. Please give me directions to the one you're training for. I'm probable on track for it if I get my somewhat enormous butt into gear.

Amazing how you can be in physically good (fit) shape but in such bad shape (extra weight).

My GP nearly fell over this week when she looked at results from a bunch of blood tests I had and found that my cholesterol and triglycerides are right where they should be. I think she thought I was cheating but telling her I eat well.

I'm off to Penang until Ausralia Day. Have a good week all (I sure plan to, with cocktails by the pool).

Catch you on the flip side.

Gabrielle

Default I'm in for the local challenge!

Current weight: 75 kg (I think- don't have a scale but aiming to purchase one ASAP)
Size: 14

Goal: 60 kg
Size: 10

*Reached 65 kg for my wedding in April, since put it back on. Sigh.*

What's the plan? Weekly check in? Every two weeks? I mean, on lost weight progress?

Hmm. Just weighed myself this a.m. and have lost one kilo.

Only one stinking kilo. At this point I just don't know what else I have to do!

I think weekly is a good idea! Should we pick a day- say Friday?

Had my 1st appointment with a personal trainer today! I bought myself a 10-pack. Ok, it's a splurge but I figure it's worth it! I think I will be awfully sore tomorrow!

Thanks for the encouragement Joanne.

Have a good weekend everyone!

Is it too late for me to join??

I was 107 , on the 2\1\04 - and now 104 (as of last wed in the gym - YAY!)

So that is a bit over 3 kg in just over 3 weeks! AND I lift pretty heavy weights so I am sure I have lost more but "gained" it back in muscle!

(running around doing a happy dance - hubby looking on as if she has gone quite mad......)

I must say that I have been really bad about sticking to a diet this year. First illness, then a trip to Melbourne meant irregular exercise and plenty of food.

Having said that, I must have done so much walking in Melbourne that I have managed to lose 2kgs. Hurrah!

Another 18 to go.
