I've just started back on Meformin this week. I started on Monday evening. I've to work my way up to 1500 mg. I have tried Met so many times before and never ever been able to last any length of time on it cause it just makes me so so sick. I went to my GP and practically begged him to try me on the XR version to see if I could handle it, he prescribed it no problem and I started on Monday evening at 500mg and it has been like a Godsend to me! I've had no sickness and feel great, I don't want to eat everyting in sight and I've lost 3lbs since Monday!!
Best of luck with it,
Carrie

I've been on 500MG ER since October with hardly any side effects. In the beginning I did but not now. So I told my doc I didn't think it was working and asked her to up me so she did to 750mg ER a day. Been on that dosage since Feb 13th and still no side effects. Good Luck! I've lost a total of 30 lbs since taking Met in Oct. (Also starting taking Byetta 5mg in Nov)
Thanks for you help ladies!!!!! Should I be taking any type of vitamins with the met?

When I started again I started taking a vitamin B12 suppliment, I've read lots of times that Met can deplete you of B12, I think thats what it is. Also a side effect some people have when they start is feeling tired all the time, I think that the two are linked. I really think that It's helped me as I've not been tired at all this time. I'm also going to start taking a prenatal vitamin.
Hope that helps
Carrie

You're on the ER version, so I think you'll be just fine. I had very little s/e getting to 1500mg (just a little dizzy, but no potty issues like other cysters).
If you feel as though you are increasing your dosage too rapidly then try 2 weeks at each titrate instead of one week.
