Points: 524.87 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 524.87 | 2nd miscarriage Hello All, I have question for everyone. I am in the process of going through my second miscarriage. Both pregnancies I have miscarried around 5-6 weeks. Both times when they went to do an ultrasound there hasnt been anything there. I have been diagnosed with pcos for about 2 years now and I am currently on 500 mg 2x a day of metformin.
I simply dont know what to do. I dont know why I am losing pregnancies so early on. My doctor seems to think that it is just bad luck, however I know that there is more to it. Perhaps there is a problem with implantation or that my uterine lining doesnt have the necessary balance of hormones to maintain a pregnancy. What do I do? please help! |

I'm so sorry for your losses. Lots of ((((((hugs))))). I too have had two miscarriages, probably waiting for the third to happen. I will find out monday for sure. It's devastating each and every time. My doctor has checked me for any clotting disorders and everything so far is negative. Maybe you should ask your doctor to do that bloodwork. I was told that it was probably just bad luck after the second m/c also. I'll keep you in my thoughts... Take care.

I guess it was bad luck, because for us the third time was the charm. I agree with Jennie, maybe your dr can run some tests. My re would not run any tests until you have 3 mc's in a row. Take care of yourself.

I have had 3 pregnancy losses - the 1st at 10 weeks after seeing a heartbeat on ultrasound, and the 2nd and 3rd both at 4 1/2 weeks, VERY early on. It's such a devastating thing to go through and doesn't ever get easier.
After my 3rd loss, I had "recurrent pregnancy loss" testing done and we found out I have a clotting disorder called antiphospholipid antibody syndrome. I carried our 4th pregnancy to term with a treatment of 1 baby aspirin a day, plus 2 shots of heparin (a blood thinner) each day. I am mentioning my son here, and including my signature, so that you know there is hope.
Be aggressive with your health care providers and stand up for your intuition. Mine was right. My hope for you is that your dreams come true.

My Mood: Points: 26,066.31 Bank: 0.00 Total Points: 26,066.31 | Huge hugs!!! I am so very sorry to hear of your loss! No one should have to go through the devastation even once ... twice is just down right rotten!! I had a m/c around 11.5 weeks and don't know why either. Luckily for me my new RE wants to run some testing to rule out clotting issues or an immune response by my body (similar to what saluki fan was referring to). My doc said that most docs won't do this testing until the 3rd m/c, which he thinks is unforgiveable ... why would a doc want his patient to go through 3 m/c to find out that they may have been preventable?! Anyway if I was you I would demand testing for these things b/c the way I look at it it can't hurt to rule them out! Good luck to you and try to keep your chin up ... it always helps me to think that when I have my healthy baby in my arms I will think of this loss as a blessing in disguise. We're here if you need us! {{{Hugs}}} Niki

We saw a faint heartbeat with the first one but a week and a half later there wasn't a heartbeat. With the 2nd m/c, I waited til 7 weeks to get an ultrasound and apparently there had been a heartbeat for the fetus to be the size it was, but the heartbeat apparently stopped a few days before the ultrasound. Ask your Dr about repeat loss testing...chances are the tests will all come back negative though as many m/c's go unexplained. Hang in there! We all know this is not an easy time for you.
