I'm wondering if anyone has had much success losing weight with this DVD combined with a reasonable diet?
I just got back on the diet/exercise wagon. I'm doing South Beach phase 2 and I'm on my 3rd day of the 30 Day Shred with Jillian Micheals. I'm a little concerned because the exercise time is so short. Even for being on day 3, I'm crazy sore, so it must be doing something. I'm not sure it's a completely adequate daily workout.

Is 20 minutes a day, the length on the DVD workout, adequate for weight loss? Or is more working out typically needed.
Probably not. Or maybe. It depends on your current weight and lifestyle. When I first started working out, I was a major couch potato so just doing 20-30 minutes a day for the first month was enough to help me drop 10 pounds (in conjunction with a good diet.)
Now that I've shifted a lot of weight, I really have to move to get similar results. I run 35-40 minutes 4 days a week and do the Slim in 6 Burn workout plus 30 minutes of strength training 2-3 days a week. For me, the cumulative effect of major exercise plus a clean diet helps me build in a calorie deficit that leads to weight loss.
(I've been interested in throwing the Shred workouts into my rotation. I'll have to follow that link upstream to see what others think.)
Hope this helps some!!!

I'm in agreement with mloverstreet. A lot will also depend on how hard you're actually working out. I like to use Shred in combination (back to back) with other workouts. For me, Shred is more like a cardio/HIIT workout (I actually run on the treadmill during the cardio portions), so I can only do it a couple of times per week.
I can maintain my weight with 20 minutes of INTENSE exercise 6 days a week, but when I want to consistenly lose, I need to do 60+ minutes of moderate exercise with considered attention paid to strength training.
